Animal testing for pharmacological activities

The extracts or active constituents obtained from the medicinal plants should be tested for their properties and safety in animals before proceeding to use in human, called pharmacological and toxicity studies. Many animal models have been performed depending on the target of the objectives such as models to test for anti-fever, anti-inflammation, anti-diabetic and anti-hypercholesterolemia Many kinds of animal such as rodents, rabbits, dogs, monkeys and cats are breeding for scientific research. The rodents including rats, mice, and guinea pigs are preferable because they are mammals with closely related to the human genome phenotype, small, very sensitive and easily breed. Those experiments are conducted to prove the traditional wisdom, the mechanisms of actions and search for new properties which will guarantee on safety and efficacy of our TTM products for the consumers.
