Kana-phaesat

Kana-paesat involves the art to group some Pasat-vattu which possess similar properties or enhance efficacy and must be used together. These categories help practitioners to memorize a wide range of ingredients and make it easier to formulate the specific recipes. Kana phaesat devided into Jula-pikat, Pikat-yaa and Maha-pikat.

Jula-pikat is composed of only two crude drugs sharing similar core name, such as the two chumhet (means chumhet thet and chumhet thai), the two tam yae (means female tam yae and male tam yae, the two khontee so (means black khontee so and white khontee so) and the two cha em (means cha em thai and cha em thet).

Pikat-ya is composed of equal amount of more than three crude drugs, such as:
Pikat of three crude drugs "Triphala" is composed of equal parts of Beleric myrobalan fruit, Indian gooseberry fruit and Myrabolan wood 's fruit
Pikat of five crude drugs "Benjakul" is composed of equal parts of Long pepper flower, Sa khan vine, Ginger rhizome, Indian Leadwort root and Wild betel root
Pikat of nine crude drugs "Navagot" is composed of equal parts of kot hua bua (Szechuan lovage rhizome), kot so (Angelica root), kot kha mao rhizome, kot chiang (Chinese Angelica root), kot chula lumpha (Chinese Wormwood leaf and flower), kot kraduk (Costus root), kot kan phrao (Picrorhiza rhizome), kot phung pla (Ant plant) and kot chada mangsi (Indian Valerian root and rhizome)

Maha-pikat The principle of maha-pikat is based on pikat-ya but the proportion of the crude drugs is varied depending on the cause of the symptoms. For example "Maha-pikat triphala"
Maha-pikat triphala for symptoms of Pitta (fire) imbalance
Maha-pikat triphala for symptoms of seam ha (water) imbalance
Maha-pikat triphala for symptoms of Vata (wind) imbalance
